Andrès Sardá: elevating intimates to Designer status (lingerie, swimwear)
The origins of the brand go back to the late 19th century: at that time, the Spanish family firm created luxury lace mantilla veils, including one worn by Jackie Kennedy during a visit to the Vatican in the 1960s. Once veils were no longer a requirement in churches, the Sardá family redirected its lace expertise towards the fashion industry. In 1962, the founder’s son ventured into lingerie with a concept that was something of a revolution at the time: making women look beautiful. The brand has always created garments with strong, fashion-forward designs, daring to overturn established codes and offering unexpected fabric and colour combinations. Exclusive and distinctive, the Andrès Sardá style stands out from the crowd, at once sensual and creative. Whether lingerie or swimwear, collections have a sophisticated, couture feel that has earned the brand recognition from the industry as Designer of the Year on several occasions (in 2005 and 2014). Andrès Sardá joined the Van de Velde group in 2008, but continues to carry out the entire creative process in the brand’s historic headquarters, Barcelona.
