Based out of Barcelona, Fitia has a clear mission statement: to make stylish, supportive swimwear for women with a fuller bust.
At Fitia, the focus is clear. There are no fads or frills with this company, the mission statement has been written in ink: a swimwear company made for busty people, by busty people. The brand is based out of Barcelona, Spain, a country in which, according to Fitia’s founders, “the notion of fuller bust […] is not yet common”.
To solve this issue, Fitia has made a name by providing locally-made supportive swimwear. Popular items include the Diego Top, with high support and no padding. There are adjustable back straps for more customer customisation. Pieces like the Toliara Top are non-wired for extra comfort for women with a fuller bust, adjustability that suits a manner of diverse body sizes. “Change is the only constant thing in life and our clothes acknowledge it”, says the brand
Fitia’s fabric is made from repurposed yarn known as ECONYL®, which is purposefully-designed for long-lasting use. With that, it is worth noting that the brand has a distinct focus on sustainability. Fitia uses recycled fabrics. With clothing crafted in a local Barcelona workshop, every step of Fitia’s process is focused on being aware of its environmental impact.
Fitia’s founder, Shanice Rakotonindraina, does not hail from Barcelona, but Madagascar. The word “Fitia” means “love” in her native tongue. It’s a name which informs the brand in multiple ways. “Fitia is the beginning of the love and the acceptance I wanted to feel and to give”, she says. As a woman fuller bust, Shanice wants her brand to be the movement that can make women like her feel embraced in swimwear and society.
