What will be the major bodywear trends for Winter 2027-2028?

Vanessa Causse, trend forecaster and bodywear expert, reflects on the impact of modern lifestyles on lingerie, and on the ways they transform our relationship to textile.

Every season, Vanessa Causse orchestrates the Interfilière Paris forum, the beating heart of the trade show which showcases the latest trends in style, cuts, fabrics and innovation.

For Winter 2027-2028, it appears that lingerie, specifically in the European market, is undergoing a major shift towards hybrid designs and practices. The Covid crisis and the MeToo movement certainly had an impact on our relationships to our bodies, and a whole new approach to self-awareness, seduction and lingerie has emerged.

Lingerie and loungewear

More than ever, we’re looking for softness and comfort, but never at the expense of chic. Lingerie must be intimate but welcoming, and above all adaptable, with designs that can be worn both at home and for running errands. Forget about slouchy fleece, it’s all about elegance: beautiful knitwear, a good structure and neutral colors that match everything – a safe response to the current market pressures.

The perfect match: a bralette, a shirt and loose-fitting pants allow for a good mix of styles and fabrics. Lace, knit, silk and fleece are starting a new dialogue, with a special focus on how fabrics fall on the body. The whole look is defined by the way the fabric feels, never too loose, nor too rigid.

Lingerie and sports

The line between daytime lingerie and sports equipment is blurring, the latter gaining an important market share. Fabrics, technics and uses are multiplying and we see more and more pieces such as bi-material bralettes, with one fabric for support and opacity, the other one for aesthetics and transparency.

For women, high-waist leggings are making a comeback, emphasizing the waist while preventing thighs from overheating. Fabrics get lighter and allow for more layering – think a fleece tracksuit and a cotton bralette worn over a transparent bodysuit, creating a whole new rhythm. For men, garments remain close-fitted, allowing to feel the effort of a body in motion.

Forget about the single outfit, sports lingerie is becoming a wardrobe of its own with multiple details and possibilities, under a single condition: the body must be free to move. Fabrics are getting lighter and more breathable than ever.

Lingerie within the daily wardrobe

While the sector has seen a 3% increase in 2025, customers now look to invest wisely in their underwear: a new bra should be sustainable and stand the test of time. More than a product, it’s an approach we’re buying into: a camisole so cleverly designed that it can be worn to work, and a corset freed of constrictions. Even tights now convey an idea of savoir-faire, through solid laces and increasingly soft materials.

Nowadays, shape, color, and even the curve of a neckline, tell something about who we are. Close to the body, yet now visible, lingerie must combine aesthetics and versatility, offering endless new possibilities for the future of fabrics and technology.
